As a middle school student, I spent two summers in a program called “Earth and Space Seminar”, sponsored by our local public schools. We had the chance to visit many of the government’s scientific facilities. The program was capped off by a field trip to the Shenandoah National Park and various state and federal parks in West Virginia.
In high school, I had the opportunity to work at the Smithsonian Institution under NSF grants.
More recently, I completed my undergraduate degree in Geology. For two summer field camps, I had the opportunity to study at the Grand Canyon National Park, Glacier National Park, as well a number of other ones in the Western United States.
I have loved the National Parks all of my life. They provide both educational and recreational benefits to many millions of visitors every year. I want to preserve them all for many future generations to come.
The fine rangers, scientists, historians, managers, and staff that support our National Parks are there for one, non-partisan reason: the National Parks!
I do believe that President Trump has overstepped his executive powers by trying to silence the National Park Service and other federal agencies for just doing their usual great job of informing the public of the great work that they are doing.
So, instead of singing Hail to the Chief, a rogue group of park rangers in effect said to hell with the chief!
As a lover of the National Parks, a dirt scientist, and a web mechanic, I decided to give a few hours to support the Alternative US National Park Service and help to promote their cause! So, go to the Get the Banner page to see how you can help them communicate their cause to America and the world!
